For those staying longer, investing in a filter jug or under-sink filter certified to handle high mineral content is cost-effective and reduces plastic waste. The water is safe to use for brushing teeth, showering, and cooking where boiling is involved.

Visitors should also be aware that tap water in Tenerife is not fluoridated, which is relevant for families with young children used to fluoridated water at home. Overall, the sensible approach for most visitors is to drink bottled or filtered water and not to worry about using tap water for everything else.
